Maximilian Kromer wird von Publikum und Kollegen als vielseitiger Pianist geschätzt. So ist er als Solist, Kammermusiker und Liedbegleiter Gast zahlreicher international führender Festivals und Konzerthäuser, wie des Musikvereins und Konzerthauses Wien, der Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, des Konzerthauses Dortmund, des Rheingau Musikfestivals, der St. Petersburger Philharmonie, der Tonhalle Maag in Zürich oder der Mozartwoche in Salzburg, in deren Rahmen er die Ehre hatte, auf Mozarts eigenem historischen Instrument, einem Hammerklavier von Anton Walter, zu konzertieren.
In der Spielzeit 23/24 erlebt man Kromer unter anderem beim Herbstgold-Festival in Eisenstadt bei einer Uraufführung des Werkes „Lisztomania“ in Kollaboration mit Julian Rachlin, Sergej Dreznin und dem Schauspieler George Hamilton. Außerdem tritt der Pianist solistisch mit einem Programm rund um Mozart & Salieri bei der Mozartwoche in Salzburg auf. Weiters wird eine Italientour den begeisterten Kammermusiker auch auf die Bühne des Teatro Verdi in Triest bringen, welche er mit dem aufstrebenden italienischen Cellisten Ettore Pagano teilen wird.
Kromer überzeugt als Preisträger zahlreicher nationaler wie internationaler Wettbewerbe, unter anderem beim internationalen EMCY-Wettbewerb A Step Towards Mastery in St. Petersburg oder beim Internationalen Brahmswettbewerb in Pörtschach. Er ist zudem Gewinner des Internationalen Jenö-Takacs-Klavierwettbewerbs, des Klavierpodiums München sowie des «Silbernen Nussknackers» beim Internationalen Fernsehwettbewerb in Moskau. 2018 erhielt er den renommierten Casinos Austria Rising Star Award, 2021 war er Preisträger beim Internationalen Beethoven Wettbewerb in Wien. Gemeinsam mit seinem Kammermusikpartner, dem Violinist und Dirigent Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, wurde er mit dem Ensemble-Preis der Nordmetall Stiftung im Rahmen der Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern ausgezeichnet.
In der letzten Saison war Kromer mit prominenten engen musikalischen Partnern wie Michael Schade, Patricia Nolz, Jeremias Fliedl, Dominik Wagner, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian und Daniel Gutmann zu hören. Mit Letztgenanntem erschien kürzlich ein Tonträger mit Vertonungen von Heine-Gedichten von Robert Schumann bei dem renommierten österreichischen Label GRAMOLA. Bei demselben Label wurde im Vorjahr auch Kromers Debut-Soloalbum mit Einspielungen von virtuosen Wiener Klavierwerken – unter anderem einer Ersteinspielung der Neuen Wiener Tänze von Christoph Ehrenfellner – vorgestellt. Konzertierend konnte man den Pianisten im Laufe der Saison zudem beim Festspielfrühling Rügen der Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, am Gärtnerplatztheater in München, im Schloss Walpersdorf in Niederösterreich beim Kulturfest Traisental oder im Konzerthaus Wien erleben.
Im Dezember 2016 debütierte Maximilian Kromer an der Seite von Emmanuel Tjeknavorian im Brahmssaal des Wiener Musikvereins. Seither kehrte er bereits mehrmals für weitere solistische sowie kammermusikalische an dieses Haus zurück. Eine Vielzahl an internationalen Engagements führten den jungen österreichischen Pianisten zudem zum Festival de Paques in Aix-en-Provence, zum Cartagena Festival nach Kolumbien, zu Amici della Musica in Florenz und zum Enescu Festival in Bukarest sowie in die Schweiz zum Yehudi Menuhin Festival und den Swiss Alps Classics.
Maximilian Kromers Ausbildung wurde in jüngerem Alter intensiv von Susanna Spaemann geprägt, welche ihn von 2004 bis 2010 betreute. Anschließend trat er sein Vorbereitungsstudium in der Klasse von Professor Noel Flores an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien an und setzte ab 2013 seine Ausbildung bei Professor Martin Hughes bis 2021, bei Professorin Anna Malikova bis heute, fort. Weiters erhielt Kromer unter anderem von Leonid Brumberg, Alexei Kornienko und Anne Queffelec pianistische Eindrücke. Seit 2022 steht er mit Liedbegleitungs-Koryphäe Helmut Deutsch in regem musikalischem Austausch. Der junge Pianist kann außerdem auf zahlreiche Konzerte mit herausragenden musikalischen Partnern wie Rolando Villazón, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, Daniel Müller-Schott, Timothy Ridout, Noa Wildschut, Michael Schade und vielen mehr zurückblicken.
Maximilian Kromer is highly appreciated by his audience and colleagues for being a versatile pianist. As soloist, chamber musician and Lied accompanist, he has been the guest of multiple international, leading festivals and concert venues, such as the Viennese Musikverein and Konzerthaus or the Konzerthaus Dortmund. Furthermore he performs at the renowned music festivals in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Rheingau, the Philharmony of St. Petersburg, the Tonhalle Maag in Zurich or the Mozartwoche in Salzburg, in the course of which he had the honour of playing a concert on Mozart’s very own historical instrument – a pianoforte by Anton Walter.
In the season of 23/24 Kromer will perform at the Herbstgold-Festival in Eisenstadt within the premiere of a newly written work Lisztomania, alongside wonderful musicians such as Julian Rachlin, Sergej Dreznin and the actor George Hamilton. Also, he will be on stage at the Mozartwoche in Salzburg, presenting a Solo recital program around the relationship between Mozart and Salieri. In addition, he will be able to showcase his passion for chamber music at Teatro Verdi in Triest, where he will share the stage with the fantastic young Italian cellist, Ettore Pagano.
Kromer convinces as winner of numerous national and international awards, amongst others at the international EMCY competition A Step Towards Mastery in St. Petersburg or the International Brahms Competition in Pörtschach. Additionally, he has won the International Jenö-Takacs Piano Competition, the Klavierpodium Munich and has been awarded the Silver Nutcracker at the international TV competition in Moscow. In 2018 he received the renowned Rising Star Award of Casinos Austria, in 2021 he was prize winner of the International Beethoven Competition in Vienna. Together with his chamber music partner, violinist and conductor Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, he was given the Ensemble Prize of the Nordmetall Stiftung in the frame of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival.
In the bygone season Kromer’s musical occupation focused on Lied accompaniment and chamber music. His work could be enjoyed in cooperation with aspiring colleagues and close musical partners such as Patricia Nolz, Jeremias Fliedl, Dominik Wagner, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian and Daniel Gutmann. A highlight of the season was the release of a CD with baritone Gutmann. The sound carrier was be published by the renowned Austrian label GRAMOLA in May and includes musical settings by Robert Schumann of poems by Heine. The same label has recently also presented Kromer’s debut solo album with recordings of virtuoso Viennese piano works – amongst others a debut recording of Neuen Wiener Tänze (New Viennese Dances) by Christoph Ehrenfellner. In the course of the season, one could experience the pianist’s performances at Munich’s Gärtnerplatztheater, at Schloss Walpersdorf in Lower Austria during the Traisental festival or at Vienna’s Konzerthaus.
Maximilian Kromer made his debut in 2016 alongside Emmanuel Tjeknavorian in the Brahms Hall of the Viennese Musikverein. He has returned to this reputed place various times for solo as well as chamber musical performances. A large number of international engagements have taken this young Austrian pianist to the Festival in Aix-en-Provence, the Cartagena Festival in Columbia, Amici della Musica in Florence and the Enescu Festival in Bucarest, as well as the Yehudi Menuhin Festival and the Swiss Alps Classics.
Maximilian Kromer’s early musical education was strongly influenced by Susanne Spaemann, who taught him from 2004 to 2010. Following that he took his preparatory classes with Professor Noel Flores at the university of Music and Arts in Vienna and continued his education with Professor Martin Hughes from 2013 to 2021, followed by Professor Anna Malikova, with whom he finished his Master’s Degree. In addition, Kromer was influenced by Leonid Brumberg, Alexei Kornienko and Anne Queffelec. Since 2022 he has been in vivid musical exchange with one of the leading authority in Lied accompaniment, Helmut Deutsch. Furthermore, the young pianist can look back on numerous concerts with outstanding musical partners such as Rolando Villazón, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, Daniel Müller-Schott, Timothy Ridout, Noa Wildschut, Michael Schade and many more.
